Galaxy Unmanned Systems (GUS) has received a Program Manager assigned by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to work in tandem toward integrating unmanned airships into the national airspace and developing technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the aviation industry.

Included is assistance with a major, high-profile event under a non-disclosure agreement in mid-2025, at which Galaxy will unveil a new unmanned airship.

The FAA partnership, which took 11 months of coordination and a detailed Concept of Operations, allows Galaxy to tackle any regulatory challenges of unmanned airship (UAS) integration into the national airspace. it also highlights Galaxy’s leadership in UAS technology, regulatory compliance, and airspace safety, and the faith the FAA has in lighter-than-air capabilities.

“We appreciate the opportunity to work with the FAA, ensuring safe and effective UAS operations at this scale,” said CEO Jason White. “This step reflects the commitment from government and industry to advance innovation while maintaining the highest safety and regulatory standards in the drone sector.

“This coordinated effort advances airspace integration for commercial drone operations. It opens a direct path to Urban Air Mobility, where electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) and air-taxi operations will depend on a structured, scalable airspace framework. This is a concrete step toward building the infrastructure needed for Advanced Aerial Mobility.”
